Will a 35$ device change your children's education?

In the present world kids live surrounded by programmable objects so the importance of teaching them how a computer works, its basic rules and structure and how to programme it in a certain level. This should be more relevant than learning how a specific software works (the actual approach).

This change is fundamental to prepare the kids for a new world that has already arrived. We cannot aspire to have a society that uses machines more and more complex in its daily life, carrying these machines in the pocket or on the body itself (wearables) but without having any idea about how to interact with them further than pressing some buttons.

Everything is on the network, the knowledge and the hardware are becoming more open with the time. Open-hardware tools like Raspberry Pi or the software Scratch developed by the MIT to teach the basic levels of the programmation, provide the chance of using a computer or programmable cart just for a few dozens of dollars.

Raspberry Pi Model B 512Mb+ Case 47 USD + VAT

The Raspberry Pi is a small, powerful and lightweight ARM based computer which can do many of the things a desktop PC can do. The powerful graphics capabilities and HDMi video output make it ideal for multimedia applications such as media centres and narrowcasting solutions. The Raspberry Pi is based on a Broadcom BCM2835 chip (700 Mhz). It does not feature a built-in hard disk or solid-state drive, instead relying on an SD card for booting and long-term storage.
